Ein Drei-Finnen-Set, mit dem Channel Islands Team rund um Al Merricks Shortboards gezeichnet, und eines der am längsten geführten Templates im Programm von True Ames. Flaches Foil, ausgewogener Flex und eine Größenreihe – Small, Medium und Large – damit das Set zum Surfer passen kann, statt als Einheitsgröße gekauft zu werden.
Wie sich das anfühlt
Ein sauberes flaches Foil und moderater Flex geben Drive, der gleichmäßig ankommt statt auf einen Schlag, und lassen das Tail am Ende eines Turns los, statt über den Punkt hinaus festzuhalten, an dem du es wolltest. Die Größe ist hier die Entscheidung: Je größer die Finne, desto mehr Fläche hält das Tail durch einen Bottom Turn unten und desto mehr Aufwand kostet es, sie loszureißen; je kleiner, desto loser, und desto weniger verankert sie sich in einer steilen Wand.
Für wen es passt
Shortboards mit drei Plugs, in Alltagswellen bis hin zu guten Wellen. Es ist ein Allzweck-Set und kein spezialisiertes – Speed, Kontrolle und weiches Drehverhalten über ein breites Spektrum an Boards und Bedingungen, und deshalb ist das Template so lange im Programm geblieben.
