MAFIA Bags
Retired sails, cut into bags.
Handmade in San Francisco. No two are the same.
No two are the same
Every one of these is the same handful of patterns, cut from a different retired sail. The panel seams, the numbers, the faded blocks of colour and the patches are whatever that sail came home with. Pick the cloth you like — there is exactly one of it.
A sail spends years being bleached by sun and beaten by salt water. By the time it comes off the mast it carries marks nothing else has — a panel seam, a faded number, a repair patch, a colour that was never in a catalogue. Marcos and Paz Mafia founded the brand in Buenos Aires in 2012 and moved it to San Francisco, where every bag is cut and sewn locally out of that cloth. Repurposed sail makes up about 80% of raw material, and the brand repairs any product, forever.

Buy the C Pack →C Pack
The small one. Designed with kids, bought by adults.
Came out of a collaboration with Sustainable Surf and SUP KIDS, drawn up as a school and outdoors pack for children — which is why it is shorter and squarer than the rest of the line. It found a second audience immediately: anyone with a smaller frame, or anyone who wants a pack that holds a wallet, a change of clothes and not much else.
- +Kids at school and on the water
- +A smaller frame, where a full-size pack overwhelms
- +Light loads — gym, beach, errands
Travel & Surf Trips
The big carries, for when the boards travel too.
Tubo Duffle
35 litres, one pound. The bag that argues for a longer trip.
The travel piece: 35 litres of it, and just over a pound empty. The interior is fully lined and water-resistant with a single pocket inside and one more outside, so wet kit on the way home is a non-event. Mostly off-white sail with whatever colour the original panel happened to carry.
- +Surf trips and weeks away
- +One bag instead of three
- +Gear that comes home damp
Small Carry
Crossbodies, totes and pouches for around town.
Sunny Pocket
Phone, keys, wallet, wax. Nothing more.
The small crossbody, and the easiest way into the brand. Two stock colourways — and a Pemulis exclusive cut from sail we picked ourselves, which is the same bag in cloth you will not find anywhere else.
- +Walking to the beach with your hands free
- +A first MAFIA at the smallest size
- +Anyone who carries less than they think
Mini MAFIA
A 3-litre roll-top stuff sack that weighs almost nothing.
Not a pouch — a roll-top sack that closes with a quick-release buckle, so how full it is decides how big it is. Three litres, a tenth of a pound, and it rolls down to nothing when empty. Sandals and a wallet at the beach, lunch on a work day, or the wet things you want kept away from everything else.
- +Keeping wet or sandy things separate
- +A packable extra inside a bigger bag
- +The least expensive way to own the cloth

Still part of the range, just not in the shop right now. Sail supply decides what gets cut, so a model comes back when the cloth does — ask us and we will tell you what is expected.

Reclaimed sailcloth — windsurfing sails, kitesurfing kites and boat sails retired from the water. About 80% of each bag is upcycled material; the remaining webbing, buckles and zips are new and sourced from US suppliers. Every bag is unique because every sail is different.
