Figura icónica de la cultura del surf de San Diego, Skip Frye es un surfista consumado, muy conocido por su estilo sedoso y también por sus diseños innovadores y singulares. Ideada a mediados de los 70, la single fin de Skip se desarrolló para rendir y destacar en un papel de apoyo para algunas de las tablas por las que es más conocido, como sus Eggs y sus Gliders. Minimalista y pura, esta quilla se presta a un surf fluido y elegante. Si quieres seguir los pasos de Skip y buscar ese trim definitivo, reducir la resistencia, ganar velocidad y dejar que hable la tabla… entonces esta es tu quilla. Flex is the thing riders say this standard-glass version lacks — the Volan build is the step up if you want the same template with spring through the body.
Put this on a Frye egg, a glider, or any fuller hybrid where the priority is trim, glide, and a planted tail — it holds a line and projects forward rather than swinging the tail through an arc. It is not a carving fin, and if your board feels dead and needs the fin to supply the engine, the Greenough 4A is the more versatile choice.

The Skip Frye is a single fin template Frye drew in the mid-1970s for his own eggs and gliders, made by True Ames. The outline is upright with very little rake and a base nearly as wide as the fin is tall. It comes in five sizes from 6" to 9.25" and fits a standard single-fin box, working as a pure single or as the center of a 2+1. A Volan version of the same template is also made.
