La quilla
La side bite de 3.0" de Skip Frye: una plantilla ancha y rechoncha que añade mordida sin quitarte la tabla de debajo.
Frye la dibujó para esos momentos en que a una single fin le vendría bien algo de ayuda —algo más de estabilidad, de proyección o de agarre— y nada más allá de eso. Es una plantilla pequeña y rechoncha, con un buen ancho de base para sus proporciones: la mayor de las dos side bites de Frye, y la que se hace notar. El área que tiene está en la base más que en la profundidad: 2.99" de altura, 3.70" de base, 7.91 sq in por lado, en fibra de vidrio maciza.
Cómo se nota
Una base ancha bajo una quilla poco profunda da drive sin mucho agarre, que es el enfoque general de Frye: menos quilla y más trabajo de la propia línea de canto de la tabla. Añadidas a cada lado de una quilla central, el cambio es real pero contenido: la tabla sigue girando como giraba antes, solo que aguanta un instante más.
Para quién es
Tablas de single fin con dos plugs libres en las que la quilla central ya está casi bien. True Ames transmite además la propia sugerencia de Frye: monta solo el par, sin nada en el cajetín central, y mira qué hace la tabla casi sin quillas.

Frye's fin work is built around flow and trim, and these follow the same logic -- a touch more bite on rail when the wave stands up, while leaving the center fin to do the trimming and pivoting it was drawn to do.
Our take
Run these with a Frye-template center fin on an egg or glider when you want a little more hold for late drops and steeper sections without losing the glide, dropping your center fin a size. They are deliberately modest -- if you need strong rail grip on a heavier board in bigger surf, step up to a 3.7".
