¡La Parrish Single es una single fin clásica de la época de los 70! Se llama así por Tom Parrish, shaper legendario conocido por sus single fins de estilo rounded-pin, de olas grandes y semi-gun, que surfistas como Shaun Tomson, Margo Oberg, Wayne “Rabbit” Bartholomew y Charlie Smith ponían a prueba en la North Shore de Hawaii, en olas como Pipeline, Sunset y Haleiwa. Parrish empezó su carrera de shaper en Surfline Hawaii y Country Surfboards antes de pasar a Lightning Bolt, donde tuvo la oportunidad de trabajar con Gerry Lopez y forjar una amistad con él. Con el tiempo Tom acabó montando su propio sello, acertadamente llamado Parrish Hawaiian Designs, donde hay tablas igual de codiciadas que sigue shapeando hasta hoy. The template runs upright with a full base and plenty of area, which is the recipe for hold and drive rather than loose, skatey turns — built to plant the tail and push the board forward, the way a '70s single-fin pin was meant to feel.
Put the Parrish Single on a single-fin mid-length, log, or pin when you want classic drive and planted hold in steeper or more powerful surf — it pivots cleanly but it is a drive-and-hold fin, not a tail-swinging carver. For a looser, trim-first feel on a fuller egg or glider, the Skip Frye single gives up hold for flow.
