La quilla
La plantilla thruster grande de Channel Islands —mucho rake, área de sobra, las tres quillas del mismo tamaño— en Hexcore y compatible con Futures.
Esta plantilla viene de las quillas glass-on que True Ames fabricó para casi todas las tablas de Channel Islands durante los años 1980 y principios de los 90, y desde entonces se ha mantenido en la gama. Las tres quillas miden 4.75" de profundidad sobre una base de 4.60" con 16.17 sq in de área; Hexcore es el más ligero de los dos laminados en los que se ofrece la plantilla.
Cómo se traduce eso
El rake es cuánto se retrasa la punta respecto a la base, y esta plantilla tiene mucho. El área con rake agarra durante un giro largo y alargado y evita que la cola deslice cuando la pared se pone vertical, a costa del pivote rápido que te da una quilla más vertical. Montar el mismo tamaño en las tres posiciones en lugar de un trailer más pequeño mantiene el drive alto y hace que el juego se sienta parejo bajo los pies en vez de irse a la cola.
A quién le va
A surfistas de potencia y condiciones sólidas: shortboards surfeadas desde el canto en olas con empuje suficiente para cargar las quillas. En olas pequeñas y blandas es más quilla de la que pide la ola.

Our take
On a Futures-boxed shortboard in powerful surf, this large Hexcore set drives through bottom turns and projects off the top while feeling lighter and livelier than solid glass. It rewards a surfer who wants the proven CI template with less swing weight; if you push hard and want stiffer flex under load, go solid fiberglass, and lighter surfers should size down to the Small.

The CI Tri Large Hexcore is a three-fin thruster set designed with the Channel Islands team and foiled by True Ames, using the CI-inspired template Chuck Ames refined over decades foiling thruster sets for Channel Islands. It is built in Hexcore, a Resin Transfer Method layup in which hexagonal coremat displaces glass and resin, running about 25% lighter than solid fiberglass with a slightly softer flex. This is the Large size with a single-tab Futures-compatible base.
