Un quad que gira más cerrado que un juego estándar sin renunciar al drive ni al agarre. John Simon, que shapea en Ventura, dibujó la Type II en torno a una pregunta: ¿cómo acortas el arco que un quad quiere hacer sin perder la proyección que hace que valga la pena montar un quad?
Qué es distinto
Tres cambios, todos trabajando juntos. La base es más estrecha, así que el juego suelta antes al salir de un giro. El perfil se mantiene más vertical, lo que mueve la mordida más cerca del centro del arco. Y las puntas se extienden en pequeñas hachas, lo que devuelve área a la parte alta de la quilla, donde agarra en mitad del giro.
La parte importante es lo que no cambió: el área total es la misma que la de un quad estándar. No se quitó nada para que girase: se movió el área. Por eso la Type II cierra el radio sin esa sensación suelta y skatey que da simplemente montar un juego más pequeño.

Simon was in search of creating a set of fins that could tighten up the turning radius without losing any drive, hold or wave face grip — narrowing the base, turning the profile of the fins a bit more upright, and then adding the extended mini hatchet tips, with the same total area as standard quads reconfigured for new performance dynamics.
Run it on a quad shortboard or performance fish when you want sharper, tighter turns without losing drive or hold — the area isn't reduced, it's redistributed to tighten the arc. If you'd rather have an all-around quad tuned for speed and flow in everyday waves, the Album Quad is the alternative; for drawn-out drive in bigger surf, look at the 6-4 Rear Quad.
