La Velzy Noserider, relativamente esbelta para ser una noserider de estilo pivot, es algo más reactiva que sus parientes orientadas al tiempo en la punta, con bases más anchas y superficies más completas. ¡Es una quilla divertida para ponerse resbaladizo!
La cabeza detrás de este diseño es Dale Velzy, legendario pionero de la industria del surf. Primer shaper comercial del mundo y surfista de talento por derecho propio, Velzy es conocido por su contribución duradera al diseño de longboards con su tabla «Pig», que cogió el punto más ancho de la tabla y lo desplazó hacia la cola, haciéndola mucho más maniobrable.
En una búsqueda parecida con su quilla Noserider, Velzy sabía que al juego de pies sutil de gente como David Nuuhiwa —considerado por muchos el mejor surfista de los años 60— le venía bien tener justo la quilla necesaria muy por detrás de los dedos de los pies. El foil relativamente rígido de esta quilla ofrece estabilidad cuando estás haciendo hang ten, mientras que su perfil estrecho te permite a la vez soltarte. Seguro que cobra vida con los surfistas sensibles a los que les gusta meterle algún deslizamiento a su surf.

Our take
This is a noseride fin with manners: it locks you in on the tip without turning your log into a board that only goes straight. Pick it for a classic 9-to-10-foot log when nose time is the priority but you still want to move the board around — if you want a tighter, quicker pivot, the Tappy 1 is the move.

The Velzy Noserider is Dale Velzy's single fin for longboard noseriding, foiled by True Ames, and the template has stayed essentially unchanged since Velzy drew it. It is relatively slender for a pivot-style noserider, pairing sweep with a long base and a fairly stiff foil. It comes in 9.0", 9.5", and 10.0" sizes, with the 9.5" and 10" favored for 9-to-10-foot boards.
