Canards sind die kleinen vorderen Finnen eines Twinzers – ein Paar, das vor den Twins und weiter außen zur Rail hin sitzt –, gefertigt von True Ames für FCS-Boxen.
Ein Paar aus massivem Fiberglas, FCS-kompatibel, in Smoke, mit dem Cant-Winkel zur Auswahl bei der Bestellung. Sie sind darauf gezeichnet, mit einem Twin-Template kombiniert zu werden: Setz sie knapp vor die Twins und weiter außen Richtung Rail, und das Twinzer-Setup, das daraus entsteht, verhält sich weder wie ein einfacher Twin noch wie ein Quad. Das Innen-Foil ist flach. So klein sie sind, sie sind nicht auf ein Layout festgelegt – das Paar funktioniert in etlichen Kombinationen über verschiedene Shapes und Boardgrößen hinweg.
Wie sich das anfühlt
Zwei kleine Finnen, weiter vorn und weiter außen gesetzt, bringen Biss ins Wasser, dort wo die Rail zuerst greift, also beginnt ein Turn früher und die Twins dahinter arbeiten länger darin weiter. Weil diese Fläche vor den Füßen sitzt, versteift nichts davon das Tail, und das Board löst sich trotzdem. Der Cant legt fest, wie aufrecht das Paar steht: flach treibt geradeaus, und mehr Winkel tauscht etwas von diesem Drive gegen Auftrieb, sobald das Board auf der Rail liegt.
Für wen es passt
Twin-Fin-Boards mit den zusätzlichen vorderen Plugs – Fishes und moderne Twins, die für Twinzer gebaut sind. Auch in anderen Kombinationen einen Versuch wert, über eine Reihe von Shapes und Größen hinweg, und genau dafür wurde das Template gezeichnet. Wähle den Cant passend dazu, wie aufrecht die Plugs in deinem Board ohnehin schon sitzen.

Placed just forward of and outside the main twins, they break the water tension before it reaches the twins, adding lift and reducing drag — and the more cant you give the canard, the more bite you get through a turn.
Our take
Buy these only if your board has canard boxes set ahead of its twin boxes and you want to run a true Twinzer — more hold and drive while keeping the loose, free feel of a twin. If your board is a standard twin without canard boxes, these won't help: run a pure twin like the Hobie Fish or Boomerang Twin instead, or add a small trailer for hold.

The True Ames Canards are small lead fins made in solid fiberglass with FCS-compatible bases and a flat inside foil. They mount just forward of and outboard of a twin set's main fins, near the rail, in dedicated canard boxes, completing a Twinzer layout. The cant built into the box installation tunes the setup, and they are not designed to work as side bites or standalone fins.
