Die CI Channel Islands Tri Large ist das flächenstarke Al-Merrick-Drei-Finnen-Set – viel Rake, viel Fläche – in Hexcore für FCS-Boxen.
Ein Dreierset in Hexcore, FCS kompatibel, in drei Farben. Alle drei Finnen sind gleich groß, und das Template geht zurück auf die glass-on Finnen, die True Ames durch die 80er und die frühen 90er hindurch für fast alle Channel-Islands-Boards gebaut hat. Durchgehend viel Rake und viel Fläche: Es kommt größeren Fahrern und Power-Surfern entgegen und läuft zu seiner Form auf, sobald die Wellen etwas Größe und etwas Schub dahinter haben.
Was das bedeutet
Fläche ist das, womit dieses Set arbeitet. Mehr Finne im Wasser heißt mehr Halt: Das Board sitzt unter schwerer Last in einem großen Turn, ohne dass das Tail loslässt, und hält eine Linie über eine schnelle Wand, statt darüber zu skaten. Der viele Rake zieht diese Turns lang. Was es kostet, ist Lockerheit – das Tail kommt nicht schnell herum, und in kraftlosen Wellen liest sich all diese Fläche als Widerstand.
Für wen es passt
Schwerere Surfer, und alle, die sich hart auf ein Rail legen, auf Thrustern in soliden, kraftvollen Wellen. Nicht das Set für einen kleinen Tag oder für ein Board, das sich skatig anfühlen soll. Das mittlere Set ist dasselbe Template mit weniger Fläche für mittelgroße Fahrer; das kleine Set nimmt der Hinterfinne Fläche, um das Tail freizumachen.

Run the large Hexcore set on a shortboard in waves with real push when you want the CI template light and responsive underfoot. If you push hard and want stiffer flex under load, take the solid fiberglass version instead; lighter surfers or weaker waves call for the small set.
MEHR ÜBER DIESE FINNE
The CI Tri Large Hexcore is a three-fin thruster set designed with the Channel Islands team, with the template developed by Chuck Ames over decades of foiling thruster sets for Channel Islands, and made by True Ames. The Hexcore construction uses a Resin Transfer Method build in which hexagonal coremat displaces glass and resin, making the fins roughly 25% lighter than solid fiberglass with a slightly softer flex. This is the large size in the range, with FCS-compatible bases, suited to shortboards in waves with down-the-line power.
