Das große Channel Islands Thruster-Template – viel Rake, reichlich Fläche, alle drei Finnen gleich groß – in Hexcore, Futures-kompatibel.
Dieses Template stammt von den anlaminierten Finnen, die True Ames durch die 1980er und die frühen 90er für fast alle Channel Islands Boards gemacht hat, und ist seitdem im Programm geblieben. Alle drei Finnen messen 4.75" Tiefe auf einer Basis von 4.60" bei 16.17 sq in Fläche; Hexcore ist das leichtere der beiden Laminate, in denen das Template angeboten wird.
Wie sich das anfühlt
Rake ist, wie weit die Spitze hinter der Basis nachläuft, und dieses Template hat davon viel. Gerakte Fläche hält durch einen langen, gezogenen Turn und verhindert, dass das Tail rutscht, wenn die Wand senkrecht wird – auf Kosten des schnellen Pivots, das dir eine aufrechtere Finne gibt. Auf allen drei Positionen dieselbe Größe zu fahren statt eines kleineren Trailers hält den Drive oben und lässt das Set unter den Füßen gleichmäßig wirken, statt es nervös im Tail zu machen.
Für wen es passt
Kraftvolle Surfer und solide Bedingungen – Shortboards, die aus dem Rail heraus gesurft werden, in Wellen mit genug Druck, um die Finnen zu belasten. In kleiner, weicher Welle ist es mehr Finne, als die Welle verlangt.

Our take
On a Futures-boxed shortboard in powerful surf, this large Hexcore set drives through bottom turns and projects off the top while feeling lighter and livelier than solid glass. It rewards a surfer who wants the proven CI template with less swing weight; if you push hard and want stiffer flex under load, go solid fiberglass, and lighter surfers should size down to the Small.

The CI Tri Large Hexcore is a three-fin thruster set designed with the Channel Islands team and foiled by True Ames, using the CI-inspired template Chuck Ames refined over decades foiling thruster sets for Channel Islands. It is built in Hexcore, a Resin Transfer Method layup in which hexagonal coremat displaces glass and resin, running about 25% lighter than solid fiberglass with a slightly softer flex. This is the Large size with a single-tab Futures-compatible base.
