La pinna
La 4-A in versione 2+1 — una pinna centrale Greenough 4-A e una coppia di side bite True Ames, vendute come set abbinato con le misure da scegliere alla cassa.
Tre pinne in fibra di vetro piena, compatibili FCS, in smoke. La pinna centrale è disponibile in 6.5", 7.0" o 7.5" e le side bite in 3.25" o 3.7". La 4-A è il template su cui finisce la maggior parte delle tavole single fin, e passa in un 2+1 senza fare storie: la base piena continua a dare drive in uscita dal bottom, la punta affusolata e flessibile continua a rilasciare in alto. Le side bite aggiungono tenuta sul rail senza togliere alla pinna centrale il suo lavoro.
Come si sente
In un 2+1 la pinna centrale dirige e le side bite tengono. La 4-A è abbastanza neutra da farti sentire la tavola più che l'opinione che la pinna ha di lei — velocità generata lungo l'onda, e grip sufficiente per restare nel pocket quando l'onda te lo chiede. Salire di una misura sulla centrale aggiunge tenuta e allunga la curva; le side bite da 3.7" fanno la stessa cosa sul rail, mentre le 3.25" lasciano la coda più libera.
A chi è adatto
Mid-length, longboard e shape hybrid con box centrale e due box laterali, surfati in un'ampia varietà di condizioni invece che tarati su una sola. Il set da prendere se vuoi un 2+1 affidabile e standard e preferisci non metterlo insieme una pinna alla volta.

Full base for drive off the bottom, moderate rake, and a tapering, moderately flexible tip that holds when you load it and releases when you let go.
Our take
Buy this when you want a mid-length or log dialed for hold and predictability in punchy surf and would rather not assemble the pieces yourself — it trades a little single-fin flow for rail grip and a wider usable range. If you want pure single-fin flow instead, run the standalone Greenough 4A, and keep the center modest: over-finning the center is the classic 2+1 mistake.

This set packages the Greenough 4A center fin with matched True Ames side bites as a ready-to-ride 2+1 setup with FCS-compatible bases. The 4A center template has a full base, moderate rake, and a tapering, moderately flexible tip. Perché il Volan?
Volan is a woven fiberglass cloth laid by hand and finished with a resin that cures to a warm amber tint. It flexes differently than solid fiberglass — more spring, more life, more feel through turns. Where solid glass is stiff and direct, volan breathes with the wave.
The hand-laid process means each fin has subtle texture and character. It's heavier, which adds momentum through flat sections. Surfers who ride volan describe it as "warmer" — the fin does more of the work, trimming and holding without demanding constant input.
