The heavy-duty end of the side bite line: the extra height and base over the 3.7 put more fin in the water on rail, with appreciably more hold than the smaller sizes.
Run these on a performance log or large 2+1 board in steep, powerful surf where a single fin gives up the tail — they push the board toward thruster-like drive rather than just adding a safety net. Size the center fin down so the board still turns, and for cleaner small-wave days or a more single-fin feel, step down to the 3.7 or 3.25.

The Side Bite 4.0 Fiberglass is a 4.0" side bite set sold as a pair in solid fiberglass with FCS-compatible bases. It sits near the top of the True Ames side bite range, just under the 4.35, with more height and base than the 3.7. It is intended for 2+1 longboard setups paired with a center fin of roughly 6.5 to 7 inches, and the same size is also offered in lighter Hexcore construction.
