All three fins are cut on the small side for a thruster setup, which stays true to Skip's overall philosophy of generally needing less fin while using more of the board's rail-line, with a gentle amount of rake for silky smooth turning ability and effortless directional changes.
Our take
Run this set on a Frye-style hybrid or fuller egg set up as a thruster when flow and clean trim matter more than vertical snap — it's for drawing speed lines on open faces, not darting off the tail. If you want a quicker, more aggressive thruster feel, the TA Tri is the snappier call.

The Skip Frye Tri is a three-fin thruster set in solid fiberglass with Futures bases, made by True Ames and sold as a complete set. All three fins are cut on the small side for a thruster setup with a gentle amount of rake, and the front fins are slightly larger than the trailer.
