Come si sente
Stare più indietro nel box sposta indietro anche il punto di pivot della pinna, e questo stabilizza la coda e aggiunge tenuta sul piede posteriore senza aggiungere molta superficie da trascinare. Dietro una twin o una quad lavora come trailer; da sola su una tavola piccola è uno stabilizzatore. Le tre misure sono la regolazione — la 4.5" cambia meno di tutte, la 5.5" dà la tenuta e il drive maggiori.
A chi è adatta
A tavole con uno small box nella coda e a setup che vengono costruiti invece che seguiti: twin che vogliono un trailer, quad con un quinto box, e forme uniche in cui la pinna deve colmare uno spazio preciso. A chi sposta le pinne e cerca il posizionamento, non solo il template.

The overhang sets the blade further back in the box and puts more fin in the water than the flush version, adding bite for a small-box board that needs more hold in steeper or more powerful surf — the overhang is there for area, not flex.
Our take
Choose the overhang version when your small-box mid-length or fish feels loose or washes out and you want more bite without going taller — it shifts the feel toward drive and authority at the cost of some looseness. If your board already holds fine and you want a quicker, freer feel, the standard Small Box Fin is the better pick.

The True Ames Small Box Fin with Overhang is a solid-fiberglass single fin using the standard True Ames small-box template with a base overhang, offered in 4.5", 5", and 5.5" sizes. True Ames lists the overhang at 1.125" on the 4.5" and 1.25" on the 5" and 5.5", setting the blade further back in the box than the flush version; the "1.5" in the product name is not the per-size figure. It is made for small-box mid-lengths, fish, and hybrids.
