La pinna
La Mini Keel Thruster di Mick Mackie è un set da tre pinne costruito a partire dalle keel: basi larghe, altezza ridotta e il drive che viene da entrambe le cose.
Un thruster che prende in prestito i suoi template dalle keel da twin fin. La coppia anteriore ha una base di 7.39" per soli 4" di altezza; la posteriore ha base più corta e meno rake per liberare il tail. Fibra di vetro piena, foil interno piatto sulle anteriori, 50/50 sulla posteriore.
Come si sente
La lunghezza della base è la fonte del drive e l'altezza è la fonte della resistenza, quindi una pinna lunga e bassa tiene la linea e fa velocità lungo la parete senza la resistenza di una pinna alta e dritta. Il prezzo è il pivot: questo set vuole essere surfato in archi lunghi sul rail più che con snap dal tail, ed è per questo che Mackie ha ridotto un po' base e rake della posteriore — così il tail gira comunque.
A chi è adatta
Tavole dal tail largo — fish, ibride e stubby con tre plug — in onde con abbastanza spinta da rendere il drive utile. Se surfi una Mackie Big Twin o una Sidecut Keel e vuoi la stessa sensazione in un thruster, è questa.

The wide-based, shallow-depth keels are built to provide maximum drive and projection, with plenty of hold and serious spring off the bottom for wide tail surf craft.
Our take
Run this on a wide-tailed fish, hybrid, or groveler with thruster boxes when you want keel speed and drive with more hold than a twin -- it is a thruster that still feels like a keel. If you want a conventional high-performance tri feel, or a two-fin keel's long drawn-out arcs, look elsewhere.
ALTRO SU QUESTA PINNA
The Mackie Mini Keel Thruster is a three-fin set designed by Mick Mackie and made by True Ames in solid fiberglass, here in the FCS-compatible version. The two side fins are wide-based, shallow-depth keel templates with flat inside foils, and the rear trailer is a slightly smaller version with less rake and a shorter base. The set is intended for wide-tailed fishes, hybrids, and grovelers set up with three boxes.
