La pinna
La Velzy Noserider, relativamente slanciata per un noserider di tipo pivot, è un po' più reattiva delle sue parenti orientate al tempo in punta, che hanno basi più larghe e superfici più piene. Con questa pinna è divertente scivolare!
La mente dietro a questo design è Dale Velzy, leggendario pioniere dell'industria del surf. Primo shaper commerciale al mondo e surfista di talento a sua volta, Velzy è celebre per il suo contributo duraturo al design del longboard con la sua tavola “Pig”, che spostava il punto più largo della tavola indietro verso la coda, rendendola molto più manovrabile.
In una ricerca simile con la sua pinna Noserider, Velzy sapeva che il gioco di piedi sottile di gente come David Nuuhiwa — considerato da molti il miglior surfista degli anni '60 — avrebbe tratto vantaggio da appena la giusta quantità di pinna, ben dietro alle dita dei piedi. Il foil relativamente rigido di questa pinna offre stabilità quando sei in hang ten, mentre il suo profilo stretto ti permette allo stesso tempo di sciogliere. Prenderà sicuramente vita per i tipi sensibili a cui piace mescolare la propria surfata con un po' di scivolata.

Our take
This is a noseride fin with manners: it locks you in on the tip without turning your log into a board that only goes straight. Pick it for a classic 9-to-10-foot log when nose time is the priority but you still want to move the board around — if you want a tighter, quicker pivot, the Tappy 1 is the move.

The Velzy Noserider is Dale Velzy's single fin for longboard noseriding, foiled by True Ames, and the template has stayed essentially unchanged since Velzy drew it. It is relatively slender for a pivot-style noserider, pairing sweep with a long base and a fairly stiff foil. It comes in 9.0", 9.5", and 10.0" sizes, with the 9.5" and 10" favored for 9-to-10-foot boards.
