La dérive
Le quad Type I de John Simon — un template droit à tips émoussés, dessiné pour resserrer l'arc sur les planches plus longues.
Simon shape à Ventura, et le Type I est le premier des deux templates de quad qu'il a dessinés pour True Ames. Les dérives se tiennent relativement droites et les tips sont étroits et émoussés, ce qui place le mordant près du centre du turn plutôt qu'au bout du tip.
À quoi il sert
Simon les a dessinées en pensant aux quad eggs plus longs — des planches autour de 7' qui veulent tourner plus court que leur longueur ne le suggère. Elles fonctionnent aussi sur des planches plus courtes, plus plates et à tail plus large, où la même géométrie se lit comme du contrôle dans une vague creuse plutôt que comme de la fermeté.
Type I ou Type II
Le Type I est celui qui est droit et à tips émoussés : du contrôle dans un surf courbe et compact. Le Type II resserre la base et ajoute des tips hatchet allongés pour resserrer le rayon tout en conservant la surface totale d'un quad standard.

They also work on shorter, flatter, wider-tailed boards, balancing punchy flickiness in the lip with control in pockety waves.
Put it on a quad egg, especially a longer one, or a wide-tailed shorter board, when your waves are small, tight and bowly and you want quick turns and sensitivity. If you ride bigger, more powerful surf and want stability and drive instead, the Danny Hess Noriega Quad is the more composed choice.
