A 3.25" side bite pair in solid fiberglass, Futures-compatible — the small outside fins that turn a single-fin board into a 2+1.
A 3.25" side bite pair in solid fiberglass, Futures-compatible — the small outside fins that turn a single-fin board into a 2+1.
Side bites convert a single-fin board into a 2+1: the centre fin still does the steering, and the two small fins add hold through a turn and drive off the bottom. The trade is some of the loose, pivoty feel a single fin has on its own, which is why size is the real decision.
At 3.25" these are the least intrusive of the three. They add bite without taking much of a log's looseness away — the size to run if you want a hint of hold and nothing more.
Solid fiberglass is the stiffer, heavier of the two constructions — less flex, more direct drive.

It grips when the board is on rail and stays quiet through trim, so the single-fin character holds up -- and the solid fiberglass gives the pair a slightly stiffer, more positive feel than the lighter Hexcore version.
The pair for a Futures-boxed mid-length 2+1 that feels slidey on steeper drops: added hold without losing single-fin glide, run with a 6.5" to 7.5" center fin. For a full longboard 2+1 with real drive, step up to the 3.7 instead.
The True Ames Side Bite 3.25 is a 3.25"-tall side bite in solid fiberglass with Futures-compatible bases, sold as a pair. It is designed for 2+1 setups on mid-lengths in roughly the 7'0" to 8'0" range, run alongside a 6.5" to 7.5" center fin. The same template is also offered in lighter Hexcore construction and in an FCS-compatible version, and True Ames makes a larger 3.7" size.
Adds more hold and drive for full longboard 2+1 setups where the 3.25 stays deliberately subtle.
The same template in a lighter Hexcore layup with a slightly less stiff feel.
The same solid fiberglass template for boards with FCS boxes.
