La dérive pivot de Renny Yater, en trois hauteurs — verticale, profonde, et taillée pour ancrer le tail.
Une dérive pivot, c'est l'extrémité verticale du spectre longboard : peu de rake, l'essentiel de la surface sous la planche plutôt qu'en arrière, si bien que la planche tourne autour de la dérive au lieu de s'en éloigner en courbe. Celle de Yater est la version classique de ce template — la tenue avant le release, l'ancrage avant la liberté — en fibre de verre pleine, avec une finition brillante et polie, en 8", 8.5" et 9".
Ce que cela donne
C'est la hauteur et un bord de fuite vertical qui tiennent un noseride : le tail reste ancré pendant que vous avancez, et le virage vient du fait de faire tourner la planche autour d'un point fixe plutôt que de tracer une courbe. Ce qu'elle ne fera pas, c'est projeter down the line comme le fait une dérive à fort rake, et elle ne laissera pas glisser le tail.
À qui elle convient
Les logs traditionnels surfés pour le temps passé sur le nose, et tout longboard où un tail ancré compte plus qu'un tail libre. Les trois hauteurs reprennent le même template ; plus de hauteur, c'est plus de tenue.

A low-rake, high-hold template in the classic Yater mold: the upright profile and generous area plant the tail and hold it down so the nose lifts, and the low rake makes the turn a tight pivot off the tail rather than a sweeping carve.
Our take
Put this on a classic log or noserider when planted hold and tight pivot turns matter more than drive down the line; walk to the nose and the tail stays planted, step back and it pivots around tight. If you want the same nose authority with more rake and drive off the bottom, the Wayne Rich Harmonic '67 is the more driving of the two.
