A 3.7" side bite pair in solid fiberglass, FCS-compatible โ the small outside fins that turn a single-fin board into a 2+1.
Side bites convert a single-fin board into a 2+1: the centre fin still does the steering, and the two small fins add hold through a turn and drive off the bottom. The trade is some of the loose, pivoty feel a single fin has on its own, which is why size is the real decision.
At 3.7" these sit in the middle, and are the size most people end up on. Noticeably more hold and drive than the 3.25", still short of locking the tail down.
Solid fiberglass is the stiffer, heavier of the two constructions โ less flex, more direct drive.

The most popular side bite size for a longboard 2+1, adding real hold and drive without overpowering the center fin.
On a full log you surf with real turns, this pair lets you push hard off the tail without the board washing out, catching you where a single fin would slide. Pair it with a 7" to 7.5" cutaway-style center fin; if you're setting up a mid-length and want to keep single-fin glide, the smaller 3.25 is the better tool.
The True Ames Side Bite 3.7 is a 3.70-inch-tall side bite pair in solid fiberglass with FCS-compatible bases, intended for longboard 2+1 setups on boards in the 9'0" to 9'6" range. True Ames recommends pairing it with a 7-inch to 7.5-inch center fin. The same template is also stocked in lighter Hexcore construction and with Futures bases, and a smaller 3.25-inch size is offered for mid-lengths.
