Le side bite trasformano una tavola single fin in una 2+1: la pinna centrale continua a fare la guida, e le due piccole aggiungono tenuta in curva e spinta in uscita dal bottom. In cambio si perde un po' di quella sensazione sciolta e pivotante che un single fin ha da solo, ed è per questo che la misura è la vera decisione.
Questa misura
Con i loro 3.7" stanno nel mezzo, e sono la misura su cui finisce la maggior parte delle persone. Tenuta e spinta nettamente superiori rispetto alle 3.25", ma senza arrivare a inchiodare la coda.

The intent is hold without character change: the fin wakes up on rail and otherwise stays out of the center fin's way. It is the size True Ames flags as its most recommended for longboard 2+1 setups.
The safe middle of the side bite range: pair them with a 7 to 7.5 inch cutaway center on a 9-foot board and let them plant the tail through turns a pure single would wash out of. Size down to the 3.25 to keep a mid-length's single-fin glide intact, or up to the 4.0 for steep, overhead surf.
A pair of True Ames side bite fins in the 3.7 inch size, Futures-compatible solid fiberglass, sold as a pair. The True Ames side bite range runs from 2.6 inches up to 4.35 inches, and 3.7 is the size True Ames flags as its most recommended for longboard 2+1 setups. The template is upright with light rake, designed to pair with a center fin around 7 to 7.5 inches on longboards and performance logs.
