Il template thruster large di Channel Islands — molto rake, superficie abbondante, tutte e tre le pinne della stessa misura — in Hexcore, compatibile Futures.
Questo template viene dalle pinne glass-on che True Ames ha fatto per quasi tutte le tavole Channel Islands per tutti gli anni 1980 e nei primi anni 90, e da allora è rimasto in gamma. Tutte e tre le pinne misurano 4.75" di altezza su una base da 4.60" con 16.17 sq in di superficie; Hexcore è la più leggera delle due laminazioni in cui il template è proposto.
Come si sente
Il rake è quanto la punta resta indietro rispetto alla base, e questo template ne ha parecchio. La superficie arretrata tiene durante una curva lunga e disegnata e impedisce alla coda di scivolare quando la parete si fa verticale, al costo del pivot rapido che ti dà una pinna più verticale. Usare la stessa misura in tutte e tre le posizioni invece di un trailer più piccolo mantiene alto il drive e rende il set uniforme sotto i piedi invece che sbilanciato sulla coda.
A chi è adatto
Surfisti potenti e condizioni consistenti — shortboard surfati di rail in onde con abbastanza spinta da caricare le pinne. Nelle onde piccole e molli è più pinna di quanta l'onda ne chieda.

Our take
On a Futures-boxed shortboard in powerful surf, this large Hexcore set drives through bottom turns and projects off the top while feeling lighter and livelier than solid glass. It rewards a surfer who wants the proven CI template with less swing weight; if you push hard and want stiffer flex under load, go solid fiberglass, and lighter surfers should size down to the Small.

The CI Tri Large Hexcore is a three-fin thruster set designed with the Channel Islands team and foiled by True Ames, using the CI-inspired template Chuck Ames refined over decades foiling thruster sets for Channel Islands. It is built in Hexcore, a Resin Transfer Method layup in which hexagonal coremat displaces glass and resin, running about 25% lighter than solid fiberglass with a slightly softer flex. This is the Large size with a single-tab Futures-compatible base.
