Le side bite trasformano una tavola single fin in una 2+1: la pinna centrale continua a fare la guida, e le due piccole aggiungono tenuta in curva e spinta in uscita dal bottom. In cambio si perde un po' di quella sensazione sciolta e pivotante che un single fin ha da solo, ed è per questo che la misura è la vera decisione.
Questa misura
Con i loro 3.4" sono una side bite piccola: quanto basta a calmare la coda senza impegnare la tavola in una sensazione da thruster.
Costruzione
La fibra di vetro piena è la più rigida e pesante delle due costruzioni: meno flex, drive più diretto.
Il template
Rich disegna una side bite con più rake del template di casa, e questo scambia un po' di mordente immediato con un arco più lungo e più morbido.

These run slightly more upright than a standard side bite, with a thinner tip and relief through the trailing edge, which Wayne Rich built for precise turns rather than just hold — adding them to a center fin gives you increased stability plus lift and projection.
Run these on a mid-length or smaller longboard 2+1 where you want a little more bite but a still-loose feel — they grip on edge without clamping the tail down the way a 4.0 inch would, and they keep the single-fin glide alive on steeper drops. Pair them with the Power Tilt for the intended setup, drop your center fin size when you add them, and size up to the 4.0 for bigger boards, riders, or waves.

The Wayne Rich Side Bites are a two-fin set designed by Wayne Rich and foiled by True Ames; this is the 3.4" Futures version in solid fiberglass, the smaller of two sizes alongside the 4.0". The template runs slightly more upright than a standard side bite, with a thinner tip and relief through the trailing edge. Rich designed them to complement his Power Tilt center fin in 2+1 setups on mid-lengths and smaller longboards, though they pair with most center fins.
