The whole point is restraint: the stubby, minimal-height shape adds just enough area to change the way the board holds, without piling on so much fin that it turns the twin into a quasi-thruster.
Add this behind a twin — ideally the Wayne Rich Twins — when the board feels too loose in steeper or faster waves and you want stability and a touch more drive without rewriting the twin's character. If you want the board as free and drifty as possible, leave the center box empty.
The Wayne Rich Trailer is a small center trailer fin designed by Wayne Rich to pair with his own Twins, though it works behind most twin templates. It is sold as a single fin in Futures-compatible solid fiberglass by True Ames. The stubby, minimal-height template drops into the center box behind a pair of twin fins.
