このフィンについて

Hobie Log Flex は、Hobie ラインのロングボードフィンを Volan でレイアップしたモデルで、フレックスはティップだけでなくフィン本体から生まれます。
サイズは 9.75" と 10.25" の二種類で、どちらもシングルフィンのロングボード向けです。Hobie Classic と Hobie Legacy がソリッドファイバーグラスであるのに対し、こちらは同じ系譜のフレックス版にあたります。1954 年に南カリフォルニアで初めてのサーフショップを開き、Gordon Clark とともにポリウレタンフォームのサーフボードを生み出した Hobie Alter の名を、ターンの中でしなって戻る Volan のパネルに宿しています。
どう感じられるか
Volan はより重く、織りの粗いガラス繊維で、True Ames が手作業で積層しています。ティップだけでなくフィン本体からしなるのが特徴です。ログに付けると、ボトムターンがより生き生きとし、そこからの伸びが増します。その代わり、硬いピボットフィンがノーズでもたらす、しっかり固定された感覚は多少薄れます。
どんな方に向くか
ノーズライドと同じくらいターンも視野に入れて乗る、9' から 10' のログに向いています。ティップタイムのためにテールを固定したいのであれば、Heritage や D フィンがその役目を担います。Hobie のカーブを硬い仕上げで乗りたいなら、ソリッドグラスの Hobie Legacy をお選びください。

The Volan body flexes through the body and trunk with the memory to return to center after repeated loading, producing increased speed and projection off the bottom and through turns.

Our take

This is for the longboarder who wants classic Hobie noseriding lines but wants the fin to load and project rather than feel dead — it trades a little of the locked-in stillness of a planted noserider for a livelier, faster feel through turns. If you want maximum dead-still tail hold for pure nose time, go to the Heritage instead.

The Hobie Log Flex is the classic Hobie longboard template built by True Ames in Volan. True Ames hand-lays 44-layer Volan panels for a high glass-to-resin ratio and aligns the weave roughly 70 degrees perpendicular to the base, so the fin flexes through the body and trunk. It comes in two sizes, 9.75" and 10.25", and is intended for traditional noseriding logs.
