このフィンについて
Greg Liddle の L-Flex。1968 年に自らのディスプレイスメントハルのために描いたフレックスフィンです。ソリッドファイバーグラス製で、六種類の高さと、ワイドベースの二つのオプションが揃います。
細身のプロファイルに薄いフォイル、そして設計されたフレックス。カラーはクリア、スモーク、ブルー、レッド、シーフォームグレーです。Liddle はこのフィンを、自らが切り開いたモディファイド・ディスプレイスメントハルに合わせて設計しました。ボートの流体力学から借りたコンベックスボトムのボードで、前寄りでトリムし、パワーの小さい波でもプレーニングに入り、そして本当の意味で制御されたフレックスを持つフィンがなければ成立しません。40 年以上を経た今も True Ames を代表するテンプレートのひとつであり、ハルの枠を大きく越えて広がっています。
どう感じられるか
薄くしなるフォイルは、レールが入るのに合わせて荷重を溜め、そのエネルギーをダウン・ザ・ラインへ返します。伸びが生まれるのはそこで、ボードはターンで向きを変えるだけでなく、そこから加速します。反応の細やかなボードの上では足元が生き生きと感じられ、死んで張り付いたようではなく、ターンを通してポジティブです。ワイドのオプションはベースがやや長く、その活きの良さを少し譲る代わりに安定を得ています。
どんな方に向くか
まずはハルに。そのうえで、加速、レールを使ったフルカーブ、滑らかな切り返しのために作られたボード全般に向きます。ポンピングよりトリムで走らせたいミッドレングスやエッグなどです。テールを押さえ込み、足元を硬く保ちたい方向けのフィンではありません。これは動くためのフィンです。

Designed to make a board feel energetic and alive through down-the-line projection and positive response — the flex loads as you trim and projects you down the line, then springs you out of the turn.
Our take
On a Liddle-style hull it is the intended match, delivering the acceleration, full-rail carves, and smooth transitions the hull is shaped around; on a speed-oriented mid-length it makes the board feel alive. It rewards forward trim and rail engagement — if your board is not a hull or speed shape, the Greenough 4A is more forgiving across the board.
