Fold the collar forward and there's a black tag with red lettering, its one visible line reading FASHION — the layout Fashion Victim used, the label that carried the Akira license from 1988 and kept its designs in print through reprint runs into the early 2000s. So the tag flags the lineage without dating the shirt; the print is the thing. And the print is the bootleg-collage grammar in full color: Neo-Tokyo's skyline in blue, Kaneda's red superbike parked riderless mid-shirt while its owner slouches below in a blue armchair in the full red kit, AKIRA spelled in letters filled with manga panels. The bike earns its own frame — the slide that ends its most famous shot is among the most-imitated moments in animation — and prints that isolate it sell on that recognition. The back seals a figure inside a frosted dome atop a tangle of red cabling, ringed by shouted panels — TETSUOOO — with a taunt lettered underneath: "You're a king? In your own little world, maybe. Get out here, you're just another freak!"
