The Details
"I believe them bones are me" is how Alice in Chains opened Dirt in 1992, and this longsleeve takes the anatomy lesson literally: a medical-plate skeleton torso, reference numbers still attached, circled like a textbook specimen behind the dripping orange logo. The rest of the shirt goes the other direction — a hot-pink tribal sun and a moon hooked on a star down one sleeve, the band's name scrawled down the other, and four amber icons across the back: sun, horned bull skull, crescent, spiked star. Early-90s Alice in Chains longsleeves are one of the steepest lanes in grunge collecting — 1992 "Wonderland" longsleeves are listed right now between $647 and $2,640, and WyCo holds Dirt-era pieces at $800 and a Facelift tour shirt at $2,000 — while this particular skeleton plate is scarcer in the record than any of them: nothing surfaced in this round of digging, which cuts both ways. The design fits the band better than provenance ever could — a catalog written like an X-ray, finally printed as one.
