A sitting president once quoted the back of this shirt to Congress. Ronald Reagan, in the February 1986 State of the Union: "As they said in the film Back to the Future, 'Where we're going, we don't need roads'" β this from a man who reportedly enjoyed the movie's joke at his expense ("Ronald Reagan? The actor?") enough to have the projectionist run the scene again. The front carries the image that sold the film: Marty checking his watch beside the DeLorean's flame trails, the composition from Drew Struzan's one-sheet β Struzan being the poster painter behind the Star Wars and Indiana Jones campaigns. The back hands Doc Brown's closing line the full billboard treatment over the car's rear end and its OUTATIME vanity plate. Movie-poster shirts live or die on choosing the right poster and the right quote; this design chose the painting everyone remembers and a line with a presidential citation.
