During Super Bowl XXIX, in January 1995, three frogs on lily pads croaked one syllable each — "Bud," "Weis," "Er" — and became the most quoted beer campaign of the decade. The spot was directed by Gore Verbinski, who took what he learned staging swamp reptiles into Pirates of the Caribbean. This design gives the campaign the full swamp-noir treatment: the frogs mid-chorus in the reeds up front while an alligator surfaces below them, and on the back the gator claims his prize — head buried to the shoulders in a case of Budweiser — over "This Bud's For You," the flagship slogan of the brand's 1980s advertising. The print carries its own paperwork: "© 1996 Anheuser-Busch" with a credit to Changes, the New York licensed-apparel house, screened into the art. Nineties beer-promo tees are their own vintage lane now, the frogs are that lane's blue-chip subject, and this one has the era's tells the listing already notes: heavyweight black cotton, single-stitch seams.
Black heavyweight short sleeve cotton tee with Budweiser graphic. Single stitch.
Budweiser, with the Bud-Weis-Er frogs from the mid-90s campaign on the front and THIS BUD'S FOR YOU on the reverse.
Bud. Weis. Er. Three frogs did more for a beer brand than most agencies manage in a decade.
