Sold as a single fin in solid fiberglass for a standard longboard box, in 9.75" and 10.25", in smoke, white or ironwood burgundy drift blue. A 50/50 foil on a 7.81" base, with area taken out of the tip. Devon Howard, Troy Mothershead, Chuck Ames and Wayne Rich worked it up through long R&D for the Channel Islands Noserider that Wayne Rich shapes, drawn around that board's nose, tail, rocker and bottom contours.
A wide base holds the tail down, which is what puts you on the nose and keeps you there. Traditional pivot fins do that by piling on area everywhere and feel clunky for it; here the tip is narrowed and enough rake is left in that the board still comes round, so rail-to-rail transitions stay smooth and turns draw out with some style to them. It holds from anywhere on the board β forward in trim, or back on the tail.
The Channel Islands Noserider first, since the fin was drawn around that board, and traditional noseriders generally β logs where nose time is the point but the board is still expected to turn. Take the 10.25" for more hold on a heavier or longer log, the 9.75" to keep it freer.
Anchors the tail for nose hold while removing the heavier log feeling.
Run it on a traditional noserider when you want secure nose hold with a lighter, more sensitive feel than a heavy hatchet pivot β it plants the tail and lifts the nose but disappears underfoot. If you want a steadier, more planted single, look at the California Classic instead; for a turn-happier all-arounder, the Barrett Miller Ace.
The True Ames Channel Islands Noserider is a solid fiberglass single fin refined with Devon Howard, Wayne Rich, Troy Mothershead, and Chuck Ames. The template combines a narrow tip, wide base, and full foil with moderate rake. It comes in 9.75" and 10.25" sizes: the 9.75" suits boards under about 9'5" or lighter riders, the 10.25" longer logs or heavier riders. It was drawn primarily for the CI Noserider longboard shaped by Wayne Rich and works on other traditional noseriders.
