Creatures of Leisure Wax Tool

A two-sided surf wax comb and scraper from Creatures of Leisure, for stripping old wax and roughing up a fresh coat.

The tool that lives in the bottom of a board bag. One edge is a scraper for taking old wax off the deck; the other is a comb for cutting a cross-hatch into fresh wax so it grips. Creatures of Leisure keep it to those two jobs, with nothing to unfold or lose, and it is cheap enough to keep one in each bag. A multi-tool does more, but this is the shape that fits flat against a board and strips a deck fastest.

How it is used

Warm the board in the sun, then push the scraper edge down the deck to lift the old wax, working nose to tail. For a deck that is only glazed over, run the comb across it both ways to cut grooves and bring the grip back without stripping it. Wipe the tool and drop it back in the bag.
