Ryuk drops his notebook into the human world out of boredom, then follows it around eating apples and watching the smartest boy in Japan destroy himself — the most honest audience-surrogate a manga ever wrote. He gets both sides of this one: full-figure on the front, blue-spined and grinning beside a giant Light Yagami, then spread-winged on the back above paired portraits of L and Light, with red wing-scratches spilling over the shoulders onto the sleeves the way only the jumbo prints of the 2000s allowed. That format is its own lineage now — the oversized unlicensed anime prints of the Death Note boom, inked edge to edge with no respect for seams, trade on eBay as their own little 2000s lane alongside the licensed shirts of the same years. The katakana under the logotype spells out Death Note; a small gold emblem is printed where a brand would sign its name, and no brand does. On this property, an unsigned instrument feels correct.
