The Details
DENNIS runs across the shoulders in giant red letters packed with photo collage — including shots of the #91 Bulls jersey that date every image here to 1995–98 — and the front is owned by one enormous portrait: Rodman grinning under red-white-and-blue leopard-print hair, a silver autograph floating beside him and, set in gothic blackletter, "don't let what other people think, decide who you are." This is the rap-tee formula — big name, photo collage, quote, signature — applied to an athlete, the 90s bootleg grammar that treated Rodman the way other printers treated Biggie, and no athlete ever fit it better. In 1996 he was leading the league in rebounding, winning a title with the Bulls, and wearing a wedding dress to sign copies of Bad As I Wanna Be — the line on the shirt is the thesis of that whole persona, and quote collectors file it under that book. Vintage Rodman tees list from around $23 to $150; the persona still sells.
