Twentieth Century Fox famously had no idea how to sell Fight Club β the 1999 campaign pitched a brawling movie, audiences stayed home, and the film built its classic status on DVD, where the twist could be rewound. This long-sleeve is a latter-day print in the bootleg style, and it crams the entire sell Fox fumbled onto one garment: the poster image of Brad Pitt brandishing the pink soap over Edward Norton's head, JOIN THE CLUB down one sleeve, WHERE IS MY MIND? β the Pixies song that scores the collapsing skyline β down the other, and the club's rules chalked across the back with the key words circled in yellow, as if Tyler graded the homework. The rules exist to be broken by everyone who repeats them; printing them on a shirt is rule-one noncompliance of the classic kind. The soap was always the film's best joke β a self-improvement product rendered from what its customers paid to have removed β and it's the first thing your eye lands on.
Black heavyweight long sleeve cotton tee with Fight Club graphic. Single stitch.
Fight Club, with WHERE IS MY MIND on the front β the Pixies track that closes the film β and the rules of the club printed down the reverse.
Sold on the understanding that the things you own end up owning you.
