From Dusk Till Dawn was Quentin Tarantino's first paid screenwriting job β an effects house hired him to write it before Reservoir Dogs made him a name, and by the time it finally shot he was famous enough to co-star. Robert Rodriguez directed; George Clooney, still working weekly ER shifts, used it to become a movie star. The front of this design is the US one-sheet β Clooney with the revolver, Tarantino peering over his shoulder, the cast names in a row up top, "one hell of a night" promised in the tagline β and the back is the better pull: a painted tableau of Salma Hayek's vampire queen Santanico Pandemonium, snake draped across her shoulders, towering over the gun-drawn Geckos like a drive-in poster from another decade. Tarantino named her after a 1975 Mexican nunsploitation film, which tells you exactly which shelf of the video store this movie wanted to live on. Promo tees from the '96 release still circulate with vintage dealers; the two-sided poster prints carry the whole pitch.
