"Feel Good Inc." won the only Grammy either Gorillaz or De La Soul ever got β Best Pop Collaboration, 2006, one award shared by a cartoon band and hip-hop's great absurdists β and at the ceremony the band appeared as holograms. The single led Demon Days (2005), De La Soul's unhinged laugh stitched through it. This long sleeve runs the whole cast: 2D grinning behind a bullhorn with a thumbs-up on the front over the graffiti-scrawl GORILLAZ; the band mobbed together on the back β 2D again up top in the yellow cap, pistol out, tongue out β above "feel good inc" in the same scrawl; rifle-and-logo prints down both sleeves. Jamie Hewlett's drawings are the whole merchandising engine β a virtual band has no faces to photograph, so the artwork isn't merch of the thing, it is the thing. Demon Days shirts in this bootleg-rap style are collected in their own right: a long sleeve has been listed at $181 on Grailed, tees from around $40.
