Three rules came with Gizmo: no bright light, no water, never feed them after midnight. The front of this design turns rule two into signage β Gizmo under a little yellow umbrella inside a red prohibition circle, NO H2O β which is the film's whole comic engine on one graphic, because water is the rule that multiplies mogwai, and everybody breaks it. The back completes the cause and effect: Stripe, the mohawked result, looming fanged over a horrified Gizmo in bright cartoon color, with a printed artist's label β PHIL CALZADA β worked into the art, marking this as a signed contemporary illustration piece rather than 1984 stock. The film earns the horror shelf it sits on: Joe Dante's 1984 hit was sold as a Spielberg family picture and played rough enough that, together with Temple of Doom that same summer, it pushed the MPAA to invent the PG-13 rating. A creature that punishes broken rules, on a shirt that posts the rule: fair warning, wearable.
Black heavyweight short sleeve cotton tee with Gremlins graphic. Single stitch.
Gremlins, with the No H2O gag on the front β the second of Gizmo's three rules, and the one everybody breaks. Reverse carries the Gremlins character art.
Machine wash cold, keep out of bright light, and obviously do not feed it after midnight.
Sourcing We source these shirts from thrift stores, estate sales, and directly from bootleg and overprint collectors.
