The Details
Warner Bros. used the Tasmanian Devil in exactly five cartoons between 1954 and 1964, then discovered decades later that the studio's most limited actor was its most bankable wardrobe item. The early-90s Looney Tunes apparel boom — Taz-Mania handed him his own series in 1991 — put Taz on more cotton than any of his co-stars, usually snarling alone in a hip-hop pose. This design belongs to the boom's most ambitious tier, the all-over print: blue circuit-board traces wire the entire shirt, front, back and sleeves, and Taz himself is rebuilt as a cyborg — riveted robot arm, piston legs, a targeting lens over one eye, red tongue still flying — under chrome HI TECH TAZ lettering, with a 1990s Warner Bros. © line printed small in the art. It's the decade in one garment: a 1954 cartoon Neanderthal upgraded with the era's circuit-board futurism, on the kind of wraparound print that cost real money to produce then and gets collected for exactly that reason now.
