The Fin
The Hobie Log Flex is the Hobie line’s longboard fin laid up in volan, so the flex comes from the body of the fin rather than only the tip.
Two sizes, 9.75" and 10.25", both for single-fin longboards. Where the Hobie Classic and Hobie Legacy are solid fiberglass, this is the flex version of the same lineage — the Hobie Alter name that opened Southern California’s first surf shop in 1954 and, with Gordon Clark, produced the polyurethane foam surfboard — in a volan panel that springs back through a turn.
How that reads
Volan is a heavier, coarser-weave glass that True Ames lays by hand, and it flexes from the body rather than just the tip. On a log that shows up as a livelier bottom turn and more projection out of it, at the cost of some of the locked-in feel a stiff pivot fin gives you on the nose.
Who it suits
A 9' to 10' log ridden with turns in mind as much as noserides. If you want the tail anchored for tip time, the Heritage or a D-fin does that job; if you want the Hobie curves stiff, the Hobie Legacy is the solid-glass one.

Our take
This is for the longboarder who wants classic Hobie noseriding lines but wants the fin to load and project rather than feel dead — it trades a little of the locked-in stillness of a planted noserider for a livelier, faster feel through turns. If you want maximum dead-still tail hold for pure nose time, go to the Heritage instead.
More About This Fin
The Hobie Log Flex is the classic Hobie longboard template built by True Ames in Volan. True Ames hand-lays 44-layer Volan panels for a high glass-to-resin ratio and aligns the weave roughly 70 degrees perpendicular to the base, so the fin flexes through the body and trunk. It comes in two sizes, 9.75" and 10.25", and is intended for traditional noseriding logs.
