Solid fiberglass in steel blue white, on a 50/50 foil that keeps it even off either rail. The front half of the outline is upright pivot; the back half is cut away, taking area out of the trailing edge. That is the whole idea of the fin — enough area up front to hold a nose ride, not enough behind to fight a turn. Quintal drew it around his own longboarding, which is time on the nose and hard rail surfing in the same wave.
How that reads
The upright entry is what plants the tail: area sits under the board rather than trailing behind it, so the board turns around the fin and holds steady while you walk forward. Then the cutaway lets it go. Pulling area out of the back of the outline shortens the radius and takes the resistance out of a cutback, so the fin stops insisting on a long arc the surfer did not ask for.
Who it suits
Longboards ridden across their whole length — nose time, then a cutback with real commitment behind it. A rider who wants the maximum hold available should take a full pivot outline instead; the Cutty gives some of that away on purpose, in exchange for turns.
Specifications
The front gives you the planted hold to perch on the tip, while the cutaway base frees the tail for high cutbacks and big bottom turns. It is built to do two jobs at once rather than specialize.
Put it on an all-around or performance log when you want nose time plus genuinely loose, aggressive turning from one fin. If you favor stable, clean noserides go to the Quintal Pivot; if you want maximum planted tail hold for pure nose time, the Heritage is steadier.
