The Fin
Ryan Lovelace's twinzer set — two rear fins with two small canards ahead of them, tuned to traditional twinzer placements.
Four fins in solid fiberglass with a raw sanded finish, in royal blue and smoke: single-tab FCS canards up front, in 0°, 4° or 9° of cant, and Futures-based rears at 6° on an 80/20 foil. The set comes out of the Lovelace FM bloodline but is set for classic twinzer layouts rather than the FM's, and it suits the sub 6'8 FM shapes in particular. What a twinzer promises is the drive and power of a quad with the freedom of a twin, and this one is Lovelace's nod to Wil Jobson, who started the design.
How that reads
The small canard sits forward and outboard of the rear fin and does two jobs: it holds the front of the rail line, and it cleans up the water arriving at the main fin so that fin can carry more load. That is where the quad-like drive comes from, without a quad's four full-size fins in the water. Cant on the canards is the tuning available — flatter for direct bite, more angle for a softer engagement as the rail goes over.
Who it suits
Classic twinzer shapes and the shorter FM boards, for surfers who want a twin that keeps its freedom but still holds a line under power. The slant of the set is performance rather than nostalgia, so it rewards being surfed hard off the rail.

The small front canard breaks the water before it reaches the main fin, feeding cleaner flow into the rear — the result reads like a twin with extra teeth, holding through a carve where a bare twin would start to slide.
Our take
Run it on a fish or hybrid twin when you want twin speed plus real hold through carves — you notice it most in the back half of a turn, where the tail holds instead of sliding out, so you can commit harder than on a bare twin. Want it looser, drop the canards and ride the Lovelace Twin; want a more thruster-like turn, the Mandala Twinzer is the pick.
