The Fin
A heavily raked 8.75" flex single fin by Jeff McCallum — the template he puts in most of his own single fins.
8.75" tall on a 5.374" base, 50/50 foil, solid fiberglass, in charcoal. The outline is raked well back with a narrow, flexible tip, which is what McCallum wanted under the boards he shapes: a fin that gives where the wave loads it and then returns. Flowy carves and slingshot bottom turns is how he describes what it does, and it is his default template rather than a specialty piece.
How that reads
Rake that far back moves the fin's load behind the back foot, so turns come round long rather than tight and the board holds its speed through them. The narrow tip is the sensitive part: it twists and springs back, which is where the twang out of a bottom turn comes from and why the fin stays responsive in the pocket. The 50/50 foil keeps it even on both rails.
Who it suits
Longboards and single fin boards ridden for flow rather than pivot — deep carves, drawn-out lines, speed carried through the turn. Surfers who spend their time on the tail will get more from it than surfers who live on the nose, since it is a flex fin rather than a pivot template.

Our take
Run it on a log or mid-length when you want flowing, drawn-out carves with springy release off the tail — it rewards a smooth approach and is happiest on a board that already makes its own speed. If you want more straight-line drive and a heavier-footed feel, go to the v.Bowls; for the classic blended Greenough feel, the 4A.
