Every one of the twelve dates on the back of this longsleeve has SOLD OUT stamped diagonally across it β printed that way, a merch-table brag frozen in ink. The tour it commemorates is the one where Britain fell: booked into club rooms before anyone knew, it opened 4 November 1991 at the Bristol Bierkeller with Nevermind six weeks old and detonating, ran through the Astoria and Wulfrun Hall, then swept back for Bradford, Birmingham, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Nottingham, Manchester, and the 5 December finale at London's Kilburn National β oversold rooms all the way down. Mid-run the band went on Top of the Pops, mimed under protest, and Cobain crooned "Teen Spirit" like a lounge singer. The blue longsleeve β sleeve spellouts, the Nevermind baby on the chest under a "Riverman presents" promoter credit β is documented original tour merch; a crew member has claimed roughly 70 were made, one sold on Grailed for $2,099, and reprints circulate, which is the lane this stock swims in. Sold out, said the shirt, before history agreed.
