The Fin
Todd Pinder's 9.5" longboard single fin: an upright pivot outline with area taken back out of it.
9.5", solid fiberglass, in champagne, for a longboard box. True Ames brought Todd Pinder's time-tested templates into the line, and the Standard is the one to start with: upright the way a pivot fin is, but with the overall area reduced. That combination is the whole idea — enough fin under the tail to stand on the nose, not so much that the board refuses to come round when a section stands up.
How that reads
An upright outline puts the fin's load directly under the back foot, so the board turns on the spot rather than in a long arc, and holds the tail down while the surfer walks forward. Taking area out takes drag out with it: the fin still settles the board on the nose, but it comes round faster and gives more feel in a critical section than a full-area pivot fin does.
Who it suits
Traditional longboards ridden for trim and nose time, by surfers who do not want to give up hard turns when the wave asks for one. It sits between a full-area pivot template, which holds the nose but resists coming round, and a lower-area performance fin that turns easily and gives less to stand on.

A more upright design, but unlike other pivot fins the overall fin area has been reduced -- aimed at traditional longboard surfing and stability on the nose, while still allowing for hard turns and sensitivity in critical sections.
Our take
For the log rider who wants planted nose time without the board tracking like it is on rails -- it pivots tight and stays responsive enough to snap a section. If you want long, drawn-out flowing carves instead, a raked flex fin like the Norm Flex draws them better.

The Pinder Single is a longboard single fin designed by Todd Pinder and made by True Ames in solid fiberglass, in one size at 9.5". The template is more upright than a classic raked pivot fin but with reduced overall area. It is intended for noseriders and all-around traditional logs.
