The Details
"Pablo, honey? Please come to Florida." A Jerky Boys prank call — a fake worried mother pleading down the phone — gave Radiohead's February 1993 debut its name, and the sample is pressed into the record itself, buried in "How Do You?". The album cover is a baby's face ringed with sprinkle-studded sweets in the heart of a flower; this print runs with the baby rather than copying it — a different startled infant, washed purple, eyes swapped for hazard-orange dots, gawping out from under RADIOHEAD in letters that fill the chest while song titles float around him in yellow script: "Creep," "Anyone Can Play Guitar," "Stop Whispering." The back blows the CD itself up to LP scale and lists all twelve tracks in quotes beneath it. The grammar — tracklist as decoration, disc as artwork, everything at maximum volume — is modern bootleg, printed on an All Sport blank per the collar tag. Debut-album worship, done the unlicensed way, for the record its own makers never loved.
