Ryan Burch's all-round twin: a hybrid template that splits the difference between speed, drive and freedom rather than committing to one.
This is the neutral twin in Burch's range. It carries a trustworthy amount of base for projection down the line and a refined tip that keeps the board lively through transitions, in solid fiberglass with a flat inside foil. Nothing about it is extreme, which is the design brief.
How that reads
Base is where drive comes from, tip area is where hold comes from, and how much of each a fin carries is what decides its character. This template takes a middle amount of both, so it drives without locking in and turns without feeling slippery. In practice that means it works from playful waist-high surf through to punchier, more powerful waves without a change of fin.
Who it suits
Anyone buying one twin set rather than three — a first twin, or the set that stays in the board when the forecast is unknown. If you already know what you want the board to do, the raked and the large templates each do one of those things better.

Reach for the Burch Twin when you want one twin set that covers small zippy days and steeper carving days both — it gets a fish or twin up to speed quickly and surfs rail-to-rail, handling tight pocket turns and longer carves. If your board has a wide tail and wants more area and hold, step up to the Burch Large Twin; for committed down-the-line keel drive, the McCallum Keel is the other direction.
