Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness ran 28 songs across two discs — Dawn to Dusk and Twilight to Starlight — entered the Billboard 200 at number one and went on to be certified diamond, which made a sprawling double album about adolescent despair the biggest commercial gesture of Billy Corgan's career. Its visual world was built out of collage: the woman on the cover is a graft, her face lifted from Jean-Baptiste Greuze's The Souvenir (Fidelity) and her body from Raphael's Saint Catherine of Alexandria, assembled by the Wisconsin collage artist John Craig. The front of this shirt is more of that world — a masked crowd in Victorian scraps, animal heads, candlelight, a woman recoiling out of the bottom corner — under the ornate script, with a small © Smashing Pumpkins Tour, Inc. line set into the art. The back abandons every bit of it for one enormous white skull and crossbones, which is the loudest available answer to the most decorated front print of the decade. The neck tag reads Giant.
