Inside the collar, printed straight onto the cotton and deliberately mirror-image, is the word VETEMENTS. That is the signature move of Demna's label, and this is one of its most storied graphics: the Vetements Snoop Dogg tee, which retailed at $924 and which Complex called "almost an exact replica of old Snoop Dogg merch." The old merch was 1993 Death Row Records promo built from Dan Winters' photographs for Snoop's VIBE cover shoot β the young Doggystyle-era face in a beanie, washed blue. Complex noted that Demna pays to license the images he replicates, which makes the object a licensed replica of a record label's own promo: merch about merch. What the photos of this garment attest is the print itself β the big blue face on black, the mirrored collar. The Vetements version trades on Grailed and The RealReal, and the 1993 originals are collectors' quarry. Either way, this design has been expensive at least twice.
